The article deals with the health status and occupational morbidity of female domestic workers in Russia in the second half of XIX - the early XX centuries. The author comes to the conclusion that the peculiarities of living and working conditions of domestic workers severely affected the health status of this category of population, encouraging the spread of «occupational diseases» and the transition of many of the maids into prostitution.
