Introduction. The article analyzes the life goals of the younger generation of Dagestanis. The focus on this issue is due to changes in the socio-economic structure of the Russian state, religious revival, informatization of society, the emergence of new ideas, and the conflict between "fathers and children." Youth, as an active social group, sets ambitious goals and strives to achieve them. Research methods. An empirical study on the values and behavior strategies of the younger generation was conducted in 2024 in Makhachkala, Derbent, Kizilyurt, Khasavyurt, Botlikh, Derbent, Kazbekovsky, Kizlyar, Kumtorkalinsky, Levashinsky districts by random selection. N=843. Distribution by socio-demographic parameters: a) gender: men – 409 people (48.5%), women – 439 people (51.5%); b) age: 15–17 years – 286 people (33.9%), 18–25 years – 298 people (35.6%), 26–35 years – 259 people (30.5%); c) education: incomplete secondary – 127 people (15.1%), secondary – 254 people (30.1%), specialized secondary – 239 people (28.3%), higher – 223 people (26.5%); e) attitude to religion: strongly religious – 298 people (35.2%), religious – 473 people (55.9%), hesitant – 37 people (4.4%), unbeliever – 21 people (2.8%), convinced unbeliever – 14 people (1.7%). The object of the study is Dagestani youth. The subject of the study is the perception of life success in the mass consciousness of the younger generation of Dagestanis. The results of the study. The study captures the priority life goals of Dagestani youth: creating a happy family, getting a good education, having reliable friends, living an honest life, getting a prestigious job, doing what you love, having your own home, raising good children. The conclusion is drawn about the inconsistency between the designation and the implementation of life goals, which for objective reasons the younger generation cannot achieve: the survey results show that the number of achievements of life goals is significantly less, in comparison, with life plans. It is noted that temperament, determination, activity or passivity, optimistic or pessimistic attitude of a person play an essential role in achieving goals, allowing them to distinguish between active and passive positions. The younger generation of Dagestanis included low financial status, the personal quality of "laziness", personal insecurity and unwillingness to take risks in the block of obstacles that prevent them from realizing their goals. The life aspirations of the younger generation of Dagestanis are closely linked to the family resource, moreover, the social stratum with a low level of financial status is focused on achieving high indicators, which makes it possible to fix the absence of "hereditary poverty" in the mass consciousness of Dagestani youth.
