The article covers the history of the journal, created in 1907 by the feminist organization “The Women’s Equal Rights Union”. Its aim was to make the main ideas of the Women’s Equal Rights Union popular; at the same time the journal investigated the “woman’s question” which had not been resolved yet. “Women’s Union” gave the opportunity to speak on the subject to all women. According to this position, the editorial board published articles written by the members of different political parties. The structure of “Women’s Union” was closely connected with its main goal – to investigate the “woman’s question” as a whole. Such rubrics as “Chronicle of Woman’s Question in Russia”, ‘Chronicle of Women’s Movement in Foreign Countries” gave information about emancipation movement in the whole world. Readers could also get information about women’s education, work, daily life and everyday cares. On the pages of the journal every woman became a “social subject” with her own interests, eady to declare it and capable of speaking publicly. Making creative personalities and ublic figures from previously passive women was the main idea of Russian feminism in general and of the journal in particular. “Women’s Union” formed its own discourse which was closely connected with Russian feminist movement.
