V. V. Rozanov`s travel-journalism: images of Europe and Russia

The article is devoted to the identification and analysis of impressions and images of Russia and the West posed by V. V. Rozanov during his trip to Europe in 1901 and 1905. The journey is regarded as a particular social practice, which reveals the author's position as a publicist in the dynamic development of the cultural landscape of Italy, Germany and Russia. The thematic specificity of perception and imaging of the architectural and pictorial creations of European masters, the author's interpretation and reflection of religious and everyday life of citizens are described. The texts under analysis indicate that Rozanov, being in Europe, necessarily refers to Russia. As a result of the observation, the author creates a comparative description in the general context of cultural and geographical space, endowed with socially relevant content.
