The article is devoted to the phenomenon of data journalism as a new media format that combines big data analysis, visual storytelling, and in-depth interpretation of social processes. It outlines the theoretical basis of the discipline, its distinctions from traditional journalism, and technical and conceptual innovations. Through the example of Josh Nicholas - a journalist from the British newspaper The Guardian - the study examines his journalistic methods, which merge statistical insights, infographics, expert commentary, and political framing. Two case studies are analyzed: one addressing the climate crisis and carbon emissions in Australia, the other focused on migration and the housing crisis. The article concludes that data journalism is evolving into a hybrid, interdisciplinary media format.
