The importance of international legal norms and standards in the protection of the defendant’s rights and their fixing in the criminal procedure legislation of the Russian Federation

Introduction: the article discusses the legal regulation of the procedural status of the accused in Russian criminal procedure based on international standards and norms. The author identifies reasons for non-compliance of domestic legislation with international law and suggests directions for further development of international cooperation in this field.
