A task is a widely known form of human thought, but at the modern stage of scientific development it is considered as a means or tool for achieving goals of a purely substantive nature. For philosophical science, the categories “task” and “problem” are one of the main ones. The history of development of scientific knowledge is obviously a totality of setting tasks and problems and further search for solutions to the identified intellectual difficulties. The mechanisms for solving problems are varied. For example, mathematical, natural science and humanities styles of thinking dictate a specific theoretical context. This study compares mathematical and physical thinking. The philosophical problem of the chosen topic is that the solution of a problem is preceded by the process of its crea-tion/programming. In other words, the same task lives several lives: in thinking, in activity and in culture. In this regard, there is a goal of creating a typology that could provide philosophy with the opportunity to be restored to its previous function, which comprehends ontology.
