This article deals with the increasing value of information in the contemporary world. Today the world has already entered the information era of its development. In this connection scientists ascertain that influence which is imposed by information on the person is frequently of manipulative character. In the article the terms «mass consciousness» and «manipulation with public opinion» are defined and some signs of information society are specified.
