The zoomorphic symbolism: a horse symbol in the ornament language

The article analyzes the ornament as a sociocultural phenomenon in the framework of the design philosophy. The author focuses on the identification of the nature of the zoomorphic ornament understood as an artificial language where various families of signs function, including signals, signs and symbols. It is shown that among the images of the ornamental art of ancient nomads zoomorphic symbolism came to the fore, joining the process of symbolic meaning constructing. It is proved that the image of a horse in the decorative art of nomads is used as a symbol of the sun, vitality, beauty, and grace.
