The article examines the legacy of A. M. Bukharev (Archim. Theodor) as the creator of the Orthodox philosophy of culture. The principle of the church formation of modernity, justified by A. M. Bukharev, consists in a personal effort to “co-crucify Christ” on the ways of this world, including in cultural creativity. This principle is a response to the secular “categorical imperative” of I. Kant, which can easily be interpreted as the principle of self-will and rebellion against God. Bukharev made a turn to eschatological thinking about the world and culture, which was the reason for his relevance as a harbinger of many ideas of the Orthodox philosophy of the twentieth century.
