Abolitionism as part of the death penalty question

The article dwells upon the abolitionist movement and its role in abolishing the death penalty around the world. The relevance of the work is due to the discussion resumption on the imposition of punishment in the form of the death penalty in view of the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the Council of Europe. The object of the study is the social relations in the sphere of countering the use of capital punishment, and the subject is abolitionism as a concept of non-execution due to a variety of factors. This movement finds support both in the international arena and in the legislation of individual states. As a result of the analysis of the provisions of theory and practice formulated by opponents of the death penalty, it was found that the arguments in protecting the right to life can become the basis for refusing to use this type of punishment due to its inconsistency.
