The article is devoted to the analysis of the last years of the political career of Adam Jerzy Czartoryski, in particular, from 1815 to 1825. Particular attention is paid to the state activity of the prince in the Kingdom of Poland, which consisted in repeated attempts to inform the emperor about various abuses by the Grand Duke. The position of Alexander I in the field of the Polish question is presented, the great influence on which was rendered by the famous note by N.M. Karamzin "Opinion of a Russian citizen". On the basis of available sources, the reasons for the humiliating resignation of A. Czartoryski from the post of trustee of the Vilnius educational district, which he held honorably from 1803 to 1823, are investigated. In conclusion, the authors conclude that the emperor and the prince, each in its own way, contributed to the aggravation of the Russo-Polish contradictions, which were later decided by the successors of Alexander I - Nicholas I and Alexander II.
