In the article the key aspects of the foreign policy of Great Britain of the second half of 19 th – the beginning of 20 th in Afghanistan are considered, the policy evolution beginning from the attempts of the British Empire to take Afghanistan under complete control till the renunciation of intervention in its internal affairs and annexation of the Afghan territories is investigated.
