Kuban agrarian sector in the late 19th - the first quarter of the 20th centuries: a comparative analysis

This article describes the South-Russian Cossack households and their status change against the background of social and political events in the late 19th - the first quarter of the 20th centuries. The author makes particular reference to the position of the farmers in different years of this period: technical capabilities, crop acreage, labour support, distribution and size of land shares, land issue deterioration, household impoverishment, excitement among Cossacks, etc. The study provides statistical material. It is concluded about the gradation of agricultural evolution in Kuban region from its highest peak in 1913 to decline during revolution and revival within the New Economic Policy.
