Aggression and victim proneness within family socialization

The article focuses on psychological factors of aggressive behavior and victim proneness. Family (as the most important institution for socialization of a person) serves as both the prevention and risk factor of victim proneness. The author considers the aspects of influence the structural and psychological deformation of families have on the juvenile asocial behaviour. Asocial deviant behaviour of children and juveniles significantly increases the risk of victim proneness. The estimate is given to the studies of family influence on establishing child and juvenile aggressiveness. The author gives the grounds for distinguishing “aggression” and “aggressiveness”. It is noted that socialization is crucially important for the development of aggressive and asocial behaviour. The author analyzes the results of the empirical research of the impact made by strict punishment on the formation of children and juvenile aggressive behaviour. The article comprises the statistical data of behaviour of victims of violent crimes as well as sociological data on the motives of juveniles’ committing violent actions. The causes of victim proneness of those suffering from sexual violence are under study. The victim proneness can originate in a problem-free family as well (under certain malfunctioning of family socialization).
