In recent years, the production of green crops has increased in vegetable growing in Russia, but their assortment does not yet fully meet the needs of the population. It is important to expand the species and varietal assortment of these crops, which are characterized by early maturity and high nutritional value. In our country, arugula has become famous and widespread among green crops. In this regard, we studied six varieties of it in the southern forest-steppe of the Omsk region in 2023-2024 on meadow-chernozem soil using generally accepted methods in vegetable growing. The aim of the research is to identify promising high-yielding varieties of arugula to obtain vitamin greens in the forest-steppe conditions of the West Siberian region. It has been established that in the conditions of Western Siberia, arugula is a promising green vegetable crop. It contains a large amount of organic acids, minerals, vitamins necessary for normal human life. The leaf apparatus of arugula is well developed, especially in the varieties Na zdorovie, Neapolitano, Jessica and Gurman, in which there are from 5 to 7 leaves 20-27 cm long in the rosette. This crop forms the bulk of the roots in the surface layer of the soil, at a depth of 10-13 cm. The increased yield of greens in the forest-steppe of the West Siberian region was noted in the varieties Neapolitano (1.224 kg/m2) and Na zdorovie (1.335 kg/m2) exceeding the control Gurman variety by 15-25% in this indicator. It is economically profitable to cultivate arugula for greens in these conditions, especially Neapolitano and Na zdorovie varieties. Gross income is 1894-2172 rubles/m2, profitability - 199-248%.
