Fertile soils of forest-steppe province in the Perm region, including the dark-gray soils are endangered which is due to agricultural utilization and water erosion. This paper presents a study of the range of dark-gray soil, located in a natural and derelict condition (after agricultural using). It was established, that in the agricultural dark-gray soil there is decreasing thickness of the humus horizon, the humus content and the cation exchange capacity, reducing the actual and exchange acidity, increasing the concentration of mobile phosphates. Phytotesting was showed that the height and weight of sprouts of cress depend on the indicators of soil fertility. Despite the low content of humus in the agricultural dark-gray soil, reduction of soil acidity has a positive effect on the height and weight of the cress. Can be concluded that agricultural dark-gray soil (in the study area) successfully fulfilling ecological function on the formation of the optimal conditions for plant growth and development. The investigated of the valuable soil object with the dark-gray soil, which is under the risk of extinction in the Perm region, will be recommended for inclusion in the Red Book of the soil.
