The article discusses the mechanisms for increasing historical literacy through the actualization and popularization of historical knowledge among the youth. The authors analyze the new forms of representation of knowledge about the past in the modern digital media space. The Internet is sometimes the only source of information for the younger generation, which is perceived by them as a reliable resource, sometimes not paying attention to distorted, false material. The need for a high-quality objective interpretation of historical events is growing in a difficult international situation, as the authors of the article note. The solution to one of the tasks of historical education is the formation of the personality and its civic subjectivity as a carrier of collective memory. The authors proposeto use the benefits of modern information technologies for understanding the historical truth by young people who are active in the process.
