The cultural heritage actualization (on the materials of the funds of the center of oriental manuscripts and xylographs of the IMSBT SB RAS)

The authors of the article determine the importance of preserving and presenting documentary sources - manuscripts and xylographs as a part of the cultural space of the Baikal region in general and Buryatia in particular. Such sources that confirm and characterize the history and culture of the region are xylographs and manuscripts in the Old Mongolian and Tibetan languages, Old Believers' manuscripts and early printed books, and other rare publicat ions concentrated in the Center of Oriental manuscripts and xylographs of the Institute for Mongolian Studies, Buddhology and Tibetology of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences - one of its largest depositories in the east of the country. The authors determine the range of problems connected with insufficient level of storage, conservation, restoration, as well as translation of heritage sites into the world scientific and cultural space, and come to the conclusion that it is necessary to compile the State register of unique and especially valuable written monuments of Buryatia.
