The article is devoted to topical issues of using the competence approach in personnel management. The types of competences and their content are determined. Factors influencing the process of forming competencies are considered. At present, strategic management of personnel is the key to the effectiveness of the organization. One of the most important conditions for effectiveness is the availability of the formed competencies of all personnel.
