Methodical approaches to managing the total cost of ownership of an information system

The paper presents the research results of methodical approaches to managing the total cost of ownership (TCO) of an information system (IS). The contemporary state of TCO of IS management, partial efficiency criteria of IS management, sources of primary information for calculating TCO, the peculiarities of TCO of IS management processes, automated means of cost accounting and the calculation of TCO indicators are discussed in the article. The set of TCOindicators, essential to calculate the values of partial efficiency criteria of IS use in the organization is suggested. The methodology of managing TCO of IS of an enterprise makes it possible to organize the management on common principles, to use rationally financial means allocated for IS support and development. The results of the research are used in the educational process in a number of Vologda universities.
