The urgent issues of conflict management in a school community

The paper deals with the urgent issues of conflict management in a school community. In the authors’ opinion, the detection and assessment of these problems are a prerequisite for their successful resolution. Based on the results of theoretical and empirical research, the paper reveals that complex conflict identification, disregard of it, unresolved conflict, conflict phobia, the lack of tools and conflict resolution skills are the priority. The difficulty in identifying conflicts is reflected in the fact that they are hardly seen and perceived. There is a disregard of conflicts in a team or organization. The school community underestimates positive and overestimates negative functions of conflicts. Managers and academic staff often conceal the conflict situations or force the conflicting parties to be formally reconciled. The research focuses on the shortage of legitimate tools to manage conflicts and the lack of conflict resolution skills in academic staff.
