Current issues of copyright and related rights protection in the digital economy

The paper considers the current problems of protecting copyright and related rights in the context of digitalization of all areas of life of modern society. Special attention is paid to such a phenomenon as Internet piracy. The factors contributing to the development of this process are highlighted. The paper describes the economic problems of authors and other rightsholders that arise in connection with the violation of their exclusive rights. It analyzes the foreign experience of protecting copyright and related rights on the Internet. Specific solutions are offered to improve the situation in Russia, including by adapting the methods of protection that are widely used abroad. The authors of the paper point to the need to change specific legal norms that will be most effective and meet the real needs of Russian society as a whole.
