Topical issues of students’ civil identity development

The article discusses some issues of the civic identity development in the context of the education system. The article focuses on such concepts as “civic identity” and “personal competence”. The purpose and functions of the civic identity is analyzed, the need for a competence-based approach in the educational process is substantiated. It is concluded that the final result of the developed civic identity is presence of fundamental civil competencies.
