The purpose of the study, the results of which are presented in this article, was to establish the acoustic characteristics that contribute to the success of public speaking. To achieve this goal, it was necessary to establish the relationship between specific linguistic (acoustic) means and their impact on the audience. The material of the study was the speech of the famous German politician J. Fischer, who is considered one of the most talented rhetoricians in Germany. Acoustic and instrumental analysis of J. Fischer's speech made it possible to conclude that his speech masterfully uses the entire intonational palette. In particular, his speech is characterized by clear diction, the ability to properly pause, vary the pace (from moderate to very fast), highlight significant words through logical stress. The combination of all these acoustic means contributes to the fact that the speaker achieves understanding from the listeners, which is expressed in a positive reaction to his words (applause and exclamations of approval).
