Albums and manuscript books nobility factory Turchaninov families

The article is devoted to the phenomenon of the late manuscript book as part of the largest noble library of the Urals of the 18th century, owned by the owner of the Sysert mountain district A.F. Turchaninov. The study is based on the Inventory of Property of 1789, compiled after the death of the owner of the plant, as well as family materials from a private collection of Turchaninov's descendants in Italy. The article presents in detail manuscript books and unique albums (materials of the Second Kamchatka Expedition and the «ladies'» album of the breeder's daughter at the beginning of the 19th century) identified from these sources, an analysis of their composition, and the history of the acquisition are carried out. The conclusion is drawn about the dual nature of the Ural industrialist, a nobleman in the first generation who has not lost his «clan» proximity to the merchant estate, which was also manifested in the nature of his library, the composition of which is not typical for many of the usual noble libraries of that time. On the whole, the subject matter of the late manuscript book fully reflected the tastes of the emerging Ural capitalists, who in their cultural demands were drawn to the nobility, but were not yet completely divorced from their democratic roots.
