The publication represents the materials of the correspondence round table held by the editor-in-chief of the scientific journal of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences “Russian-Byzantine Herald” I. B. Gavrilov, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Russian spiritual writer, theologian, exegete, one of the founders of Russian biblical criticism, literary critic, religious philosopher Alexander Matveevich Bukharev (as a monk of Archimandrite Theodore, 1822-1871). The discussion is preceded by a brief introductory speech by I. B. Gavrilov, then his questions are answered by leading domestic experts and researchers of the theological and philosophical ideas of A. M. Bukharev - Archpriest P. Khondzinsky, V. Yu. Darensky, N. N. Pavlyuchenkov and V. A. Fateyev. The connection between the worldview of A. M. Bukharev and the mysticism of the era of Emperor Alexander I, its place in the history of Russian conservative and Slavophil thought, the problem of the kinship of the religious ideas of A. M. Bukharev and F. M. Dostoevsky, the ideological confrontation of Bukharev with the publisher of the magazine “Home Conversation”, conservative publicist V. I. Askochensky, theology and historiosophy of his teaching about the Apocalypse are considered. The widespread opinion that A. M. Bukharev is the forerunner of the Russian “religious-philosophical renaissance” and non-Christianity of the Silver Age, as well as the influence of the thinker's ideas on Russian philosophy and culture are discussed.
