The idea of a treaty between the civil community and the princely power was initially the best way to establish a political democracy in the history of Russian state. The first historical example of such a treaty is the agreement of the representative authorities of the Novgorod Republic with Alexander Nevsky. This union is considered in the article as a unique model for the Russian history of the state and the law of equal cooperation of the Russian prince and the democratic state of ancient Novgorod.
