Alekseyevskoye hillfort as a saltovo-mayatskaya culture site

Dating and cultural attribution of the Alekseyevskoye hillfort has beendiscussed for 90 years. s. N. zamyatin believed that the site was attributed to the saltovoculture, while T. M. Oleynikov attributed it to the Khazars and s.A. Pletneva initiallydated the monument ХѴП-ХѴШ, more lately also carried it to the time of the Saltovoculture. Similarities in construction materials and construction techniques, technicaldesign of the foundation and the fortification walls, and parametric characteristics ofthe Alekseyevskoye hillfort described by the author of the paper demonstrate that allthese characteristics fit quite well in the Khazar and Alan brick and stone fortificationarchitecture in the Don region, which has Byzantine architectural and construction roots.The radiocarbon date of the log that comes from the Alekseyevskoye hillfort walls is767-847 and also corresponds to the Khazar Kaganate period
