The article deals with social policy of the Turkish Republican government and place that was given to Alevis in it during 1923-1950. Alevism is a form of popular (folk) Islam, in the time of the Ottoman Empire the Alevis had to lead hidden way of life and conceal their religious affiliation. The article aims to research a question of the Alevis' status change, in particular, under the influence of the new government's reforms.
