The family, being a basic social institution, creates conditions for the primary and subsequent socialization of the individual. In a family, a child gets his first experience of communicating with other people, forms a system of values and learns patterns of behavior in a variety of life situations. Dysfunctional families are not able to have a positive impact on the formation of a young man's or girl's personality. Family problems can be caused by a variety of factors, which include family conflict and violence, the presence of examples of delinquent and immoral behavior in families, and improper parent-child relationships, including the use of non-pedagogical educational measures against children. At the same time, alcoholism of adult family members should be recognized as one of the most traumatic conditions. The article analyzes criminological aspects of drunkenness and alcoholism in the context of juvenile delinquency. Criminological features of family and domestic alcoholism as a factor of crime and delinquent behavior of minors are determined. The conclusion about the need for timely detection and control of alcoholic families as the most important area of prevention of juvenile delinquency is substantiated.
