The article studies the theoretical origins and development of philosophical ideas about the relation between Man and World formulated within the concept of a holistic worldview, supported and actively developed at the beginning of this century by the renowned Russian philosopher V. A. Balkhanov. He believe that the core ideas of this approach to understanding the world fundamentally coincide with the intentions and essential content of such different at first glance teachings as bootstrap theory, Mahayana Buddhism, and Pitirim Sorokin's integral philosophy. According to the author, the understanding of the world as a fluid and changing integrity in both cases led to the awareness of the need for an altruistic transformation of Man, who at all times strives to successfully adapt to the conditions of an ever-changing reality. The commonality of theoretical positions and conclusions identified by us testifies to the high value and significance of the ideas of a holistic worldview, their congruence, and relevance to the modern world, which is once again experiencing a crisis of its development.
