Analytical review of the causes of violation of flight regularity of civil aviation aircraft

Punctuality of flights by an air carrier is one of the factors of economic efficiency of the airline. Violation of the time of use of allocated slots entails financial and reputational losses for the airline, violations in the daily flight plan and a further increase in the number of delays (late arrival of aircraft for the next flight). This article examines the essence of punctuality of airline flights, considers its types, calculation methods, determines the main reasons for violation of flight punctuality, and assesses the losses of the airline associated with delays. The study is based on information from the "Guide to Ensuring and Accounting for Regularity of Flight of Aircraft of Civil Aviation of the USSR RRP GA-90", the "Air Code of the Russian Federation", as well as from the "Airport Handling Manual (AHM) IATA".
