The depopulation occurring throughout the modern period is one of the most important problems of the development of the Far East. Its components contribute to the reduction of the population - natural selection and migration movements. The high dynamism of the processes and the variety of generated trends within the region, which are often of the opposite nature, make it necessary to supplement the macroeconomic analysis with an in-depth study of what is happening at the intraregional level. The article presents the results of the assessment of demographic processes in municipalities and settlements of the Amur region, belonging to the geostrategic territories of the Russian Federation, during the implementation of national projects. The analysis made it possible to establish the level of differentiation of the demographic situation, to determine the municipalities of the region with positive and negative dynamics in population changes, migration and natural movement of the population.
