The Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan instructed Scientific Research Institute for Radiation Medicine and Ecology to set up the system for individual recording Chernobyl emergency accident workers (EAWs) and their offspring in order to deliver them effective targeted rehabilitation treatment, as well as to monitor changes in demographic structure. In 2014 the Institute launched the program. At present time the database contains data of 831 Chernobyl EAW’s living in the East Kazakhstan oblast. Dosimetric data for emergency workers are from official sources: military ID and documents issued by dosimetric monitoring system. The majority of the EAWs were miliary men (34.3%), workers (29.1%) and dosimetry technicians (13.7%). Of all registered EAWs 385 people only (46.3%) have information on external radiation doses, which vary widely.
