Analysis and assessment of socio-economic indicators of food security in the region

The article analyzes and evaluates the dynamics of the main socio-economic indicators of food security in the Rostov region for the period 2018-2022, which made it possible to identify the main trends: firstly, that the actual indicators of food consumption, in comparison with medical standards, are not reach the required level for meat and meat products, milk and its products, potatoes, fruits and berries, fish and fish products; secondly, the dynamics of indices of the physical volume of industrial production of the food industry and agriculture in the region shows in the last two years positive dynamics. The authors proposed the main directions for ensuring the food security of the subject, related to reducing dependence on imports, increasing the volume of investments in scientific research aimed at breeding new varieties and hybrids, improving state support and developing organic agriculture. The results of the study can be used in developing the main directions of socio-economic development.
