The article discusses the general issues of choosing a calculation scheme when performing a course project on the discipline "Fundamentals of device design". The schematization of the design of the instrument device depends on the task set at this stage of the design of connecting parts into nodes, assembly units. The general issues of typical connections of parts are considered. The analysis of the algorithm for constructing an independent student's work in the process of completing a course project is carried out.
