The article presents information about the use of role-playing game as a practice-oriented task in the methodology of teaching a foreign language. The relevance of using role-playing games in the methodology of teaching a foreign language is determined, the criteria for selecting role games are characterized; outlines the features of the use of role-playing games; The stages of work with role games are defined. The high practical potential of the role-playing game is revealed, allowing to put into it actions, attitudes and intentions, which are components of pedagogical activity.
