The analysis of the relationship of the use of project management methods and mechanisms in the development of the territories of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and the development level of territories was carried out. Various project management methodologies are considered on the example of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The functions of project management in the field of territorial development of Russian regions are investigated.
