The quality of the products depends largely on the efficiency of pre-sowing tillage. In the cultivation of flax operations are quite stringent requirements, due to the specifics of this culture. An important criterion for the choice of machines is their economic feasibility. When processing the soil for small-seed crops in demand combined units, which may include needle harrows. These tools have a number ofadvantages that positively affect the quality and energy intensity of the working process. Currently, pilot plants with two types of needle working bodies-single - row and double-row, which have been tested in the field, have been created. Tests single-row harrow showed its performance and efficiency. However, at the same time, some design flaws were revealed, which affected the quality of the operation. It is established that agricultural indicators are markedly improved with increasing the speed of the unit and the number of needles on the disk. Double-row harrow produces loosening more intensively than single-row. The peculiarity of its design allows for self-cleaning of disks with needles from the soil. The obtained results can be used to create a promising combined unit.
