Analysis of medicines for poultry farming

The analysis of the range of medicines for veterinary use in the field of poultry farming in the Russian Federation has been carried out. The analysis was carried out on the basis of data from the State Register of Medicines for Veterinary Use and approved lists of medicines. The results of the analysis of the range of medicines registered on the Russian pharmaceutical market showed that medicines for poultry farming account for 17% of the total number of medicines for veterinary use, and specifically, this share accounts for 454 positions from the entire register. As of September 2021, there are 242 positions of registered medicines for poultry farming in Russia, which have an international nonproprietary name. Domestic organizations own 49% of all registered certificates. The State Register of Medicines for Veterinary Use in Poultry contains a wide range of medicines from the group of biological products. The most numerous in terms of the number of registered drugs are vaccines aimed at treating and preventing Newcastle disease, they made 53 positions in the register, vaccines against infectious bronchitis of chickens account for 33 positions, and against infectious bursal disease (Gumboro disease) 24 positions. The peak in the number of registrations in Russia of medicines fell in 2020 and amounted to 77 positions, followed by 2021 in terms of indicators and currently amounts to 60 registered positions. More than ⅓ of the segment of chemotherapeutic agents falls on the share of naphthyridine derivatives, quinolones, fluoroquinolone. 29.5% of all drugs are presented in the form of a solution, 24.2% - in the form of a powder, and the remaining positions fall on the lyophilisate for the preparation of solution and suspensions - 18.3% (83 positions), emulsions for injection - 13% (59 positions) and tablets - 1.5% (7 positions).
