Analysis of prospects for mining development of the region municipal units

The article is devoted to analysis of the development prospects of the mining industry in the Republic of Buryatia. Mining operations in the republic is one of the priority directions of strategic development. Significant amounts of mineral reserves are concentrated in Buryatia. Some fields are unique in the sense of quality and content of minerals. Thus, estimation and analysis of prospects of mining industry development is quite essential. The article presents the results of a survey of the population of some municipal areas of the region to identify promising industries. The survey was conducted within the framework of the Russian Foundation research grant. Mining was singled out by respondents as one of the promising directions of development of the industry in these areas. Evaluation of perspective explored deposits led to the conclusion of non-conformity of the resource potential of municipalities and the extent of their use. The main obstacle to the development of the mining industry is the Baikal factor. The study has proposed strategic directions of the development and realization of prospects of the mining industry in Buryatia.
