Analysis of application of 3D printing wire technologies in space environment

Бесплатный доступ

At present, analysis of additive technologies in space environment is a target area in solving problems of manufacturing and in-place repair of spacecraft structures having a minimum dependence on components delivery from the Earth. The analysis of research in which methods of additive technologies were applied in low gravity conditions made it possible to make a conclusion on possible and reasonable application of 3D printing wire technologies in space environment. A method of wire electric-arc additive formation technology may become one of the feasible solutions in manufacturing structural elements in low-gravity conditions. The method is characterized by using a metal wire in the form of a filament which melting is caused by an electric arc. Considering the wire technology specifics and space environment, created were criteria for evaluation of manned spacecraft structural elements which manufacturing, maintenance and repair are possible through additive technology.
