Analysis of the draft Federal law "On amendments to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and the Criminal-Procedural Code of the Russian Federation in connection with the introduction of the concept of a misdemeanor"

The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of a misdemeanor as a new type of criminally punishable unlawful acts. The authors emphasize the merits of the proposed draft changes to the law. The addition of the criminal law to the norm of a criminal offense is regarded as one of the means ensuring the differentiation of criminal responsibility. Along with positive moments, contradictions have also been revealed that hamper the adoption of the proposed norm, including the terminology used by the legislator.
