Analysis of labor market in the transport and logistics sphere on the example of the Astrakhan region

The article considers the problem of supply and demand in the labor market in the field of logistics and transport. The purpose of this article is to identify factors, determining the demand for labor and competencies in the transport and logistics sector of the Astrakhan Region. Survey and selected in-depth interviews with 90 heads of enterprises of the Astrakhan region is conducted. The polling forms, used to collect data, contained the competences and logistics tools complying with worldwide and all-Russian trends. Based on the results of the survey and secondary data, regional peculiarities, on the demand for labor force in the transport and logistics sphere, are highlighted. According to the results of the study, 11 functions, which have to be fulfilled at logistics departments at enterprises, are identified. In accordance with the employers’ opinions, the article reveals 14 key functions. The article examines the competencies of the higher and secondary specialized educational standards. It is indicated that the competences for secondary specialized education comply with the employers' requirements most closely. At the same time, while training Bachelor’s degree students, who would be competitive in the labor market, it is advisable for universities to set the requirements within each educational discipline more thoroughly.
