The article discusses the influence of environmental factors on the strategic development of the company. When forming a strategy, it is necessary to use theoretical developments confirmed by practice, one of which is the model of the five competitive forces of Michael Porter. It allows you to identify threats from various market participants, assess the degree of their impact and develop a company strategy that allows you to realize its goals, improve operational efficiency, and take a more stable competitive position. The application of M. Porter's model is presented on the example of JSC "Krasnodargorgaz", an assessment of competitive forces is carried out and directions for improving the company's market policy are proposed.
