Analysis of the socio-economic situation of the regions of the arctic zone of the Russian Federation

The problem of the development of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation is now receiving increased attention. Active efforts for the development and socio-economic development of these territories, in accordance with the policy pursued by the president and the government of the country, will ensure the economic development of the Russian Federation as a whole. Therefore, it is of particular interest to study the socio-economic situation of the Arctic regions. In this regard, the purpose of the study is to analyze the socio-economic situation of the regions of the Russian Federation that are part of the Arctic zone. The paper studies twelve socio-economic indicators indicated in the officially published forecasts of the socio-economic development of the regions. Data analysis was carried out on official statistics using statistical methods. The study of quantitative data on the socio-economic situation of the Arctic regions made it possible to conclude that there are negative trends in nine of the twelve indicators considered. As a result, it was concluded that at present, it is not possible to use the resources and potential of the Arctic territories for the economic growth of the country.
