In Russia, road transport is traditionally considered a backbone industry, on the state of which other sectors of the national economy directly depend. However, the growth trend that the industry has shown in recent years (2018-2019) has also proven to be one of the hardest hit by multiple work restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The article analyzes some statistical indicators characterizing both road transport and road transport infrastructure of the Russian Federation, which is important for understanding the general vector of development. The authors proposed measures, the implementation of which would be the practical implementation of the Action Plan to ensure the sustainable development of the Russian economy.
