The article presents a mini-analysis of literature sources on the issue of improvement of catalysts for polymerization of ethylene and other olefins, since it is with the help of polymerization catalysts became possible to industrial production of polyethylene and other polymers with specified properties. It has been shown that Ziegler-Natt catalysts are the basis for the creation of effective catalytic complexes which allow the production of polyethylene required by industry for a number of products needed by the consumer. It was noted that in the structure of modern catalysts a transition metal in a certain ligand environment is obligatory. It is also noted that metal-center catalysts with chelate ligands take the first positions in the catalysis of ethylene polymerization.
