The article discusses employment as a sociological category in the context of the national society functioning, in which it is appropriate to consider the employment both as a social phenomenon and as an object of the social management. The authors describe intrinsic characteristics of the employment as a management object, and deal with its phenomenological features, such as: purpose, subjects, topic, functions, types, means, and result.
